Are You in Trouble?

An Exposition of John 14:15-31

Stress at work, strife at home, something agitating you, a debt, a worry, a dysfunctional relationship?

You can be in trouble legally. Get a lawyer. You need an advocate who knows the law. They say a man who is his own lawyer has a fool for a client.

Even if we live to a ripe old age, healthy, and one day simply not wake up, still we’ll face God’s judgment.

The Promise (14:15-17)

The promise is that Jesus asks the Father to give us another Helper; another like Him.

The Presence (14:18-24)

With the Holy Spirit, we are not left alone. “I will not leave you as orphans.”

The Paraclete (14:15-26)

Paraklete is the Greek word translated “Helper”, comforter, counselor, or advocate.

The Peace (14:27-31)

Jesus calls it “my peace”. It’s not like the world’s peace, just an absence of conflict.
