July 4th marks when America went from a British colony to an independent country in 1776.
The USA now has the oldest constitution of any major country in the world. A new government is an epochal change, usually marked with big events. Here is Israel’s regime change.
Listen:
The Providence (9:1-14)
Israel wants a king they can see. So, the Lord gives them a man who looks like a king.
Click on the YouTube link to hear how 1 Samuel 9 shows the providence of God:
God “works all things according to the counsel of His will.” (Ephesians 1:11)
“If it is the Lord’s will, we will live and do this or that.” (James 4:15)
“On how small an incident the greatest results may hinge! The pivots of history are microscopic.” — Charles Spurgeon
The Appointment (9:15-27)
The day before this divine appointment, the Lord uncovered that tomorrow the new king would come. The thigh meat was specifically for the priest (Exodus 29:27.) Saul gets the priests’ portion. Listen to the message linked above.
The Anointing (10:1-16)
The Lord’s people in this world are surrounded by enemies, by the world, the flesh, and the devil. Saul is filled with the Spirit and prophesies with the prophets. The YouTube video above explained what “anointing” means.
The Confirmation (10:17-27)
The new king was anointed, given priest’s food, prophesied with the prophets, and now is the king.
The Anointed One
is a prophet, priest, and king. Unlike Saul “he was despised and we esteemed Him not.” Has God touched your heart so that the One others mock, you follow? Has God done that epochal change in your life?
