How Do You Get to The Top?

An exposition of 1 Samuel 1:1-2:11

To be on the top in business, you need to provide something people want. To be a top athlete, you need talent, hard work, a team and a coach to help you train. To get to the top in academics, you have to have good grades then get into an elite school.

People come looking for the secrets to making it to the top, yet, what they hear in the gospel is to make it to the top, you need a king who goes to the bottom, who is raised from the dead.

The Problem (1:1-8)

God had caused the problem.

The Prayer (1:9-18)

When you believe that God is sovereign and so every problem is in His power, then that you’ll pour out your soul to the Lord.

The Proclamation

“If a man vows a vow to the LORD, or swears an oath to bind himself by a pledge, he shall not break his word. He shall do according to all that proceeds out of his mouth.” (Numbers 30:2.)

The King comes through Samuel, who came through Hannah because she was low.
