Why is the culture so resistant to truth and so hard to win to being Biblical?
In this new article, published in The American Thinker, I show what the attempt for Elon Musk’s new team’s attempt to suppress What Is a Woman shows how oppressive they are. Then, I discuss a federal court ruling repeating transsexual propaganda and putting the force of law behind it.
That’s what we’re up against. They are so lacking in humility, they will state out-right absurdities, as if sexual identity is “assigned” like you’re assigned to take Dr. Jones’s English 101 class, in a judicial ruling as “findings of fact.” The judge states with absolute certainty, giving his errors, confusion, and arrogance the force of law, and willing to risk the lives of children on his hubris. He’s not aware it’s even a risk, so doubt-free is he.

What Are We Up Against to Build a Biblical Church?
One of the challenges to building a Reformed church in this area is getting people to prioritize it. Some local people opt for a big church with lots of programs and packaging even though it doesn't teach the doctrines of grace or whole counsel of God or practice the marks of a healthy church they believe in. Rather than join us, because we're small church and simple, they opt for the big church. Consumers have more to consume in a big church, even if they are “Reformed Consumers.” There are enough local people who believe like we do to make for a sustainable church but many of them settle for traditional churches, while often getting their spiritual nourishment on-line from some celebrity pastor (like the kinds we use for Sunday School.) We'd like them to put sound teaching and practice as a priority and join us.
We’re Up Against a Culture of Religious Hypocrisy
The old time religion will preach about believing the Word of God but frequently will not practice it. The New Testament twice commands psalm-singing (Ephesians 5:19, Colossians 3:16.) This is rarely obeyed today. The Lord Jesus commands church discipline. Narcissistic people in our culture hate discipline. Churches rarely practice it.
Even though the Lord Jesus commanded it (Matthew 18:15-17), churches today rarely practice church discipline. Even though the New Testament twice commands it, they don’t sing psalms. Even though God expects faithfulness, they don’t expect their members to keep their covenant.
The Lord Jesus commanded us to be such people of our word that we don’t have to take an oath to be taken seriously; our “yes” is yes and our “no” no. Our word is our bond, all are promises are kept. But today, in our culture, people in churches break their church covenant without accountability. They think it is odd if any one suggests their unfaithfulness is wrong. Worldly people in the church are just as unfaithful, just as much consumers forsaking commitments when they feel like it, as people in the culture. And they refuse to change, because they are unteachable, thinking the church exists to make them feel comfortable in their worldliness.
What We’re Up Against in Caswell County and Danville
We’re up against hypocritical people who claim they believe the Word of God but will not practice and some who would like to practice it but when it comes time to make a decision, they’ll opt for the big show, what appeals to their consumer appetite, the old time religion. It’s good enough for them. We’re up against hypocrites who claim they want a Reformed church but won’t attend one or give to it. We’re up against hypocritical men who say they believe the Word of God but then timidly submit to their wives who would rather be part of a social club. We’re up against narcissistic ingrates who are given many gifts by loving church members and then wander off to consume another church, like it was a new restaurant. We’re up against frauds who say they want “expository preaching” but then don’t decide it’s important enough to make a priority.
What We Have For Us
But with everything that is against us, we rejoice because none of it is stronger than what is for us! He who is for us has brought us members who were saved out of the Jehovah’s Witness cult. Another saved out of domestic violence. He’s brought us people of different races. He’s sustained us for nearly 16 years, given us a building, and faithful members. Come join us!
